Companies that are contenders for the award have a pioneering spirit and set trends for the entire sector – by pointing out and following new andcourageous paths, broadeningperspectives and offering sustainable solutions. With the INTERNORGA Future Award, the leading international trade fair for the entire foodservice and hospitality market acknowledges innovative products, technologies and strategies that put their faith in a sustainable futurefor restaurants, hotels and bakeries. INTERNORGA will take place from 18 to 22 March on the grounds of Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH.
In each category, three companies have the chance to win the prestigious industry equivalent of an Oscar. Companies can apply for the category ‘Trendsetter Company – Gastronomy & Hotel Sector’ themselves or be nominated for it. The applicants come from the hotel, restaurant, catering and canteen sectors and are recognised for their entrepreneurial activity and future-oriented business, through which they are setting the trends of tomorrow.
Two other categories are only open to exhibitors at INTERNORGA 2022. The ‘Trendsetter Product – Food & Drink’ category rewards an innovative product that stands out due to healthy and biologically valuable raw materials, high quality in processing and flavour, or fair production conditions and recycling, for example. The category ‘Trendsetter Product – Technology & Equipment’ recognises intelligent technical solutions for the foodservice and hospitality market that impress thanks to their efficiency and economy in the use and application of energy and materials. This category also includes digital solutions that optimise work processes and applications and provide fresh impetus for the sector.
Experts from business, science and society on the jury
The expert jury of the INTERNORGA Future Award consists of five well-known representatives from business, science and society. The chairman of the jury is Dr Daniel Dahm, an internationally renowned geoscientist and expert in sustainability. Among other things, he is Senior Advisor of the World Future Council and active in various NGOs, such as Scientists for Future, the German Association for the Club of Rome and the Federation of German Scientists (VDW). Joining him in the jury are: Mag. Hanni Rützler, nutritionist and one of the leading trend researchers in the food sector, as well as owner of futurefoodstudio in Vienna; Dipl. Ing. Carl-Otto Gensch, expert in sustainability assessment of technologies and corporate strategies, and Head of Products & Material Flows at the Öko-Institut Freiburg; Rainer Roehl, ecotrophologist, expert in organic certification of canteen kitchens and restaurants, member of the advisory board of the German Institute for Community Catering, and Managing Director of the consulting firm a ?verdis; and Bernd Aufderheide, President and CEO of Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH.
Applications and nominations open until 15 January 2022
Companies can apply or be nominated for the INTERNORGA Future Award until 15 January 2022. All submissions will be reviewed by the independent jury of experts. Ultimately, three finalists will be selected for each category. The winners will be announced on 17 March 2022 as part of a celebratory opening gala on the eve of INTERNORGA in Hamburg.

INTERNORGA has been the leading international trade fair for hotels, restaurants, bakery and confectionery for 100 years and will take place from 18 to 22 March 2022 on the grounds of Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH. National and international exhibitors will present their products, trends and innovations for the entire foodservice and hospitality market to trade visitors in eleven exhibition halls. The trade show is accompanied by international conferences, an extensive supporting programme and innovative industry competitions.
