Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel has agreed to take on patronage
of SMM again in 2010. Following the 2006 and 2008 events, this is
the third time the Chancellor has undertaken patronage of the
leading trade show for the international shipbuilding industry. That
demonstrates the great importance attached by government policy to
shipbuilding and the marine industry as drivers of innovation and
high tech.
