The energy transition is beginning: Fuel cells are coming
Hamburg, pioneers fuel cell technology
8th International Conference and Exhibition on Hydrogen, Fuel Cells, and Electric Drive Systems on June 8-9, 2011
The catastrophe in Fukushima has turned the energy industry upside down. Ever since the nuclear accident, nothing has been as it once was. Germany´s energy supply is being reorganized: less nuclear energy in exchange for more alternative energy.
Current conference agenda now online Top experts will be lecturing on and discussing next-generation technologies and their application areas at this international conference.

Energy Transition – How fuel cells can change how we supply our homes
The realization seems to have finally hit home with political policy makers that we now need to invest more efforts in generating heat and power locally. The search for alternative sources of energy and hear in the residential sector inevitably winds up at decentralized micro-CHP (combined heat and power) generation. In this area, fuel cell heaters have the highest energy coefficients and enormous potential for energy conservation. In Germany alone, 250,000 households per year would be eligible for making the switch. “The fuel cell industry is aware of the growing potential and is happily going with the flow,” commented Guido Gummert, Executive Vice-President VDMA Brennstoffzellen and Managing Director of Baxi Innotech, in a speech,” and we are preparing for a forthcoming market entry.”
Among other things, you will hear at the panel discussion on the first day of the H2Expo conference when their market entry is scheduled for and how it is being prepared.
Experts such as Dr. Klaus Bonhoff, NOW, Johannes Schiel, VDMA, and Dr. Georg Menzen, German Feeral Ministry of Economics and Technology, will comment on the future application areas of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies, as well as electrical drive systems.
Daimler delivers first fuel cell vehicles to companies in Hamburg
Last week, the first electric vehicles powered by fuel cells were handed over to select companies in Hamburg, including Airbus, Imtech Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG, and Hamburger Hochbahn. The Mercedes B-class F-Cell is the latest generation of fuel cell vehicles.” The B-class demonstrates that the fuel cell is very well suited for mass production, thus making this energy source of the future available to many people,” explains Dr. Michael Enzinger, Progam Manager of fuel cell development at Airbus. Hamburg is once again pioneering the use of this new technology.
Learn more about the deployment of these vehicles in everyday life at the H2Epo.
